Hi There!
This week I created a visual about a quote on visualization.
Here's the quote:
"Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose" - Bo Bennett
And here's the visual:
Managing your emotions is key to your effectiveness and impact as a leader.
However, it's easier said than done. Our biology and conditioning conspire to ensure we are more likely to react emotionally than to respond thoughtfully.
The key to managing your emotions is to be aware of them, name them, and exercise your freedom to choose your response.
The idea is to create a useful menu of possibilities - so you have greater choice in how you respond in any given situation.
Now on to 5 Ideas To Unleash Your Leadership and Career This Week

How To Overcome Your Dislike of Networking
"Adopt a generous mindset and a service-driven approach. Think of networking as an opportunity to give, rather than to get. In the short term, this approach can help you overcome resistance to building a network. And in the long term, being a giver is the best strategy for building a valuable network imbued with reciprocity and rising in your career."
Cultivating an effective and engaged network can do wonders for your job. However, the way most people approach it, it can also feel distasteful and dishonest.

How To Build Trust from the Very First Conversation

It is critical to validate your personal brand
When you craft your brand, you start with a clarification step. The objective here is to take stock of all 5 C's of your brand and identify opportunities for differentiation.
Once you have a good idea of your current brand, it is time to Generate You 2.0. This is where you envision the version of yourself best suited for your Dream Job.
It is one thing to envision the best possible version of yourself - and quite another to actually work toward it. You 2.0 may be the right person for your dream job - but might require you to adjust or abandon some of your values.
Alternately, it may require a few, but drastic changes in your personality. These are not necessarily show-stoppers - but certainly, decisions that must be made after due consideration.
You can validate your desired brand by self-assessing the feasibility and desirability of the transformation involved.
You could also validate your brand by asking for feedback from people who know you well, who care for you, and who you implicitly trust.
Personal branding requires serious investment of your time, energy and attention.
You want to be sure the brand you are building is not something that does not inspire, or worse, repels you
Until next time!
